Add metadata to images
Adding metadata to images can be useful if you want to display images with captions and descriptions using FSI ImageGrid.
This tutorial shows you how to add metadata to images in FSI Server. The Viewing an Image Grid tutorial shows how to view it using the ImageGrid Viewer.
Adding metadata
To automatically display captions and descriptions in an image grid, you need to add this information to an image's metadata.
Adding metadata to multiple images at once
Select the categories you want to add text to (in our case, we want to add the same photographer as Credit to all images) and enter the text.
Click the three dots next to the title to open the shortcut menu and select the Apply to all selected files option.
Confirm the action in the pop-up dialogue.
Adding metadata to one image
In our example, we want to add a title and a short description to the image in the grid. We want to use the Caption and FSI Extra metadata fields. The latter can be used for longer text and formatted with HTML.
To do this, we first need to add these fields to all the images in the folder. Go to the Metadata tab and select all the images.
Click on the three dots next to the title to open the context menu and select Add Fields.
In the pop-up dialogue box, select the fields you want to add (Caption & FSI Extra) and press OK.
To add custom text to an image, select the image and enter a title and description in the appropriate fields. Your changes will be saved automatically.
